The beginnings of a dance composition often start with improvisation. The aim of this class is to step outside of one's traditional comfort zone and explore new movements in order to gain a different perspective on movement and the body's abilities. The class will consist of a variety of movement scores that I will describe and set as a basic framework. The majority of the class will consist of free movement without any props, but students are free to bring any props that they desire as they may be incorporated in the final score. Several of the scores will consist of collaboration, group work, and physical contact. Students are also encouraged to bring any musical instruments that they play, as improvisational music and improv dance go hand in hand. Get ready to break the mold of your typical flow and create something beautiful!
